On May 23 rd , 2022, an extreme coastal event occurred around the northern coast of Java. This had caused collapsed several seawall segments Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang. Combined with wave overtopping, it led to severe flooding and economic damages port operation. Responding event, this research aimed characterize hydrodynamic condition proposed a design. The was done through field observation, climate characterization, numerical simulation. observation confirmed extent damage harbour. study, based on global reanalysis data, that offshore height could reach 3 m during high season, period 4 – 6 seconds coming from northwest. tidal range is up 1 highest astronomical tide (HAT) at +0.65 MSL. value analysis gave 3.7 meter design for 100-year return or 1.7 meters nearshore. crest elevation least +3.40 above mean sea level avoid which 1.1 higher than existing seawall.
